Volumes within break bulk displayed a positive trend during 2012. CMP acts as a logistics hub for several different commodities in Malmö. The goods are delivered to CMP’s facilities, where they are reloaded for further transport to final destinations in various markets in Northern Europe. It was primarily the warehouse operations that grew in volume during the year. However, the weaker economic situation for the industry in general has affected other customers within break bulk with lower turnover as a result.
During the year the break bulk operation in Copenhagen has also expanded. The background to this is the ongoing construction of the Metro system, which is expected to be fully operational in 2019. CMP has signed a letter of intent to collaborate on warehousing and logistics to run over a period of three years. The volumes in this collaboration should amount to some 400,000 tonnes of freight comprising both building materials and peripheral equipment.
